Poor
memory.
Forgetting instructions, facts, names or what was just read, even when the effort is there.
What it can look like
- Instructions
- Facts that won’t stick
- Studying
- Names and words
- Working memory
- Where things are
Memory problems can look like a child who learns the spelling words on Thursday and loses them by Friday, who can’t hold a three-step instruction, or who reads a page and remembers none of it. For adults it may be names, appointments and the thread of a conversation. Often the issue is working memory, holding information in mind while using it, which is closely tied to attention and learning. An evaluation separates memory from attention, language and anxiety, since each calls for different support.
How we help
Getting started
Start with a phone consultation. Memory testing is part of every comprehensive evaluation and covers visual and verbal memory, immediate and delayed, recall and recognition; we can focus on it when memory is the main concern.
Rates vary based on the level of involvement. Contact us for a phone consultation.
