Learning
problems.

When school is harder than it should be: trouble with reading, writing or math that doesn’t match the effort going in, and a child who is starting to feel it.

What it can look like

  • Reading
  • Writing
  • Math
  • Homework battles
  • Falling behind
  • Dyslexia

A learning problem can look like slow, effortful reading, messy or avoided writing, math facts that won’t stick, or hours of homework for a page of work. Grades may hold up for a while on hard work and help at home, then drop when the material gets harder. Some children act out or shut down rather than admit what is hard.

How we help

  1. Neuropsychological evaluation

Testing looks at reading (word reading and fluency, comprehension, foundational skills), writing (spelling, written expression, writing fluency) and math (calculation, problem solving, math fluency), alongside reasoning and memory, and shows whether a specific learning disability such as dyslexia is behind the struggle.

  2. A plan for school

The report turns the findings into recommendations the school can act on, and we can help you ask for them, including at IEP meetings.

  3. Executive function coaching

For older students, coaching builds the planning and study routines that make the work manageable.

Getting started

Start with a phone consultation. Tell us what you have noticed at home and what the school has said, and we will suggest whether a comprehensive evaluation or a more targeted one makes sense.

Fees

Rates vary based on the level of involvement. Contact us for a phone consultation.
