Getting started

How do I start?

Schedule an initial consultation video or call to talk about your concerns and determine if testing is right for you.

Speak With Us

Who do you work with?

Children, teens and adults who are struggling to succeed in school or at work.

What if I’m not sure which service I need?

The initial consult call is our chance to discuss your concerns/needs and help determine the best plan of action, which may include testing, second opinion, advocacy, or executive functioning coaching.

Services We Offer

Evaluations

What does an evaluation include?

Standardized assessments, interviews with parents, teachers and other providers, and a classroom observation.

About evaluations

How is it different from a school evaluation?

New York City schools offer a psycho-educational evaluation. It doesn’t include official diagnoses, the neurocognitive skills that affect school performance (such as memory, attention and executive functioning), an integrative report, or recommendations for home and services outside school.

What is an evaluation?

Who can do a neuropsychological evaluation?

Licensed psychologists who have completed a two-year post-doctoral fellowship in neuropsychology, who may or may not be board certified (ABPP). Licensed school psychologists may conduct shorter evaluations, similar to the psycho-educational evaluations schools offer.

How long does it take?

Testing with your child usually takes several days, followed by a feedback session with your family and a written report.

Support at school

Can you help with school afterwards?

Yes. We help your family understand the special education system in New York City, prepare with you before IEP meetings, attend the meetings, and testify at impartial hearings.

Fees and insurance

What does it cost?

Rates vary based on the level of involvement. We go over fees in the phone consultation.

Fees and payment

Do you take insurance?

Grove Psychology does not participate in any insurance plans; we do provide the documentation you'll need if/when pursuing out-of-network reimbursement.

Visiting
