Irritability.
A short fuse, frequent anger, or a bad mood that doesn’t lift, in a child, teen or adult.
What it can look like
- A short fuse
- Outbursts
- Grumpiness
- Arguments
- Walking on eggshells
- Low mood
Irritability is one of the most common reasons families reach out. It can look like daily blowups over small things, a teen who is angry at everyone, or an adult who snaps and then feels terrible. Irritability is rarely the whole story: it often sits on top of anxiety, low mood, ADHD, poor sleep, or a learning problem that makes school miserable. An evaluation looks underneath to find what is driving it.
