Out-of-Control
Behavior.

Meltdowns, defiance, aggression or big reactions that are more than a family can manage on its own.

What it can look like

  • Meltdowns
  • Defiance
  • Hitting
  • Refusing
  • After-school explosions
  • Tantrums past toddlerhood

Out-of-control behavior looks like tantrums that last an hour, hitting or breaking things, refusing every request, and explosions that seem to come from nowhere, often at home after holding it together all day at school. Behavior is communication: underneath it there may be anxiety, frustration with learning, sensory overload, trouble with change, or ADHD. An evaluation looks for what is driving the behavior, so the plan addresses the cause and not only the behavior.
