← What we assess for

Obsessive-Compulsive
Behaviors.

Unwanted thoughts that keep coming back, and rituals or checking that are hard to stop.

What it can look like

  • Intrusive thoughts
  • Checking
  • Counting
  • Washing
  • Just right
  • Reassurance

Obsessive-compulsive behaviors look like repeated hand washing, checking locks or homework again and again, needing things lined up or “just right”, rituals at bedtime, or asking the same question for reassurance. The thoughts behind them are often frightening to the person and kept private. These behaviors overlap with anxiety, rigidity and autism, and an evaluation helps clarify what is driving them.
