← What we assess for

Lack of Interest in
Life.

Losing interest in things that used to matter, low energy, and a sense that nothing is worth the effort.

What it can look like

  • Low mood
  • Withdrawal
  • Tiredness
  • Nothing is fun
  • Dropping activities
  • Hopelessness

In children and teens this can look like quitting activities, staying in their room, falling grades, irritability and tiredness rather than obvious sadness. In adults it is often flatness, low motivation, trouble concentrating and pulling away from people. Low mood and loss of interest can be depression; they can also follow long-running struggles with learning, attention or social life. An evaluation looks at mood together with thinking and learning so the picture is complete.
