Distractibility.
Easily pulled off task by sounds, sights, other people or their own thoughts.
What it can look like
- Noise
- Interruptions
- A wandering mind
- Off task
- Starting over
- Busy classrooms
Distractibility is attention that is easily captured by something other than the task at hand: a noise in the hall, a classmate, a notification, a thought. It looks like work that takes far longer than it should, directions missed halfway through, and a child or adult who keeps having to start again. It often goes with ADHD, but it can also come from anxiety, sensory sensitivity, or a learning problem that makes the task itself hard to stay with.
