Evaluations are a tool we can use to help your child feel happy and successful at school and in life.
Claire Golden, PhD, is a New York State licensed clinical psychologist and developmental neuropsychologist. She earned her Masters in School Psychology from Queens College in 2012 and her PhD in Educational Psychology from the Graduate Center of the City University of New York (CUNY) in 2013.
After training as a school psychologist and working in several public and private schools in New York City and Brooklyn, she completed a two-year post-doctoral fellowship in developmental neuropsychology at the Promise Project at Columbia University Medical Center, a nonprofit dedicated to providing comprehensive neuropsychological evaluations and educational advocacy to under-served children. She has successfully testified at numerous impartial hearings to secure private placement and compensatory services for her clients.
In her private practice she strives to work with students and their families to see the whole child, and to help families and schools work together to make the best possible environment for each child.
She also sees adults who have concerns about developmental diagnoses (e.g., ADHD, Autism, and Learning Disorders) that may have been missed in childhood. These adults often share a feeling of being out of step with peers from childhood that may have gotten more pronounced in adulthood. Finding a framework to understand why some aspects of adulting are hard can be validating and empowering, often leading to positive changes.
